The textbook is focused on studying the free GNU Octave computing environment for students majoring in "Electrical Insulation, Cable and Fiber Optic Technology". The basic elements of GNU Octave programming are provided. The main emphasis is on the commands and functions of the applied programming language with graphical construction of mathematical functions. The types of data, methods of their processing and graphical possibilities of presenting results are described in detail. For a better understanding of the work of the programs, command execution listings are provided. The textbook is intended for students majoring in 141 "Electrical Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics", and will also be useful to graduate students, teachers and engineering and technical workers in the field of electrical power engineering, electrical engineering and electromechanics.
